wunderground-cli

A Linux CLI port of k-donn/plasmoid-wunderground, the KDE Plasma widget for Weather Underground personal weather stations (PWS).

It talks to the same public proxy the plasmoid uses (a Cloudflare Worker in front of The Weather Company / Wunderground's PWS API), so no API key is required.

Install

pipx install -e .

This installs the wu command globally (editable, so code changes apply without reinstalling).

To build an Arch package instead, see packaging/aur/PKGBUILD (cd packaging/aur && makepkg -si once a v0.2.0 tag exists).

Usage

Pressure is shown as absolute (station) pressure, derived from the sea-level value the API returns and the station elevation; the original is pressureSeaLevel in --json.

Responses are cached for 2 minutes in ~/.cache/wunderground-cli; use --no-cache (or WU_NO_CACHE=1) to bypass and wu cache-clear to empty it.

Units: metric (default), imperial, or hybrid (UK-style: Celsius + mph).

Current conditions and the 7-day forecast both include sunrise/sunset and moon phase (with rise/set times).

Status

All commands from the plasmoid are ported, including air quality and the NOAA Kp-index (aurora) panel. Requests retry on another proxy shard after network errors and 5xx.
