Summary

  • The Levenshtein bump merged in Bump levenshtein from 0.27.4 to 0.27.5 #208 pulls in 0.27.5, which requires Python >=3.11 — pip install -r requirements.txt was already failing on 3.10 (and 3.8/3.9, broken since an earlier bump to 0.27.4's >=3.10 requirement), while setup.cfg still advertised python_requires = >=3.8 and classifiers down to 3.8.
  • No CI matrix tests older interpreters, so this drifts silently.
  • Narrows python_requires and the classifiers to >=3.11 to match what is actually installable, and updates the two docs pages (docs/getting-started.md, docs/index.md) that quoted 3.8 as the minimum.

Follow-up from review on #208.

Test plan

  • pytest — 630 passed
  • Verified Levenshtein==0.27.5 PyPI metadata requires >=3.11 (checked via pypi.org/pypi/Levenshtein/0.27.5/json)

Levenshtein 0.27.5 (pulled in via requirements.txt since PR softagram#208)
requires Python >=3.11, so pip install -r requirements.txt already
fails on 3.8/3.9/3.10. setup.cfg still advertised python_requires
>=3.8 and classifiers down to 3.8. No CI matrix tests older
interpreters, so the gap goes unnoticed until someone hits it.

Narrow python_requires and the classifiers to >=3.11 to match what
is actually installable, and update the two docs pages that quoted
3.8 as the minimum.
