Adds support for booking transfers. Historically, we've just used the ACH payments API endpoint for handling book transfers. It takes a day or so for those to be converted into book payments though, so we lose the instant nature of book transfers.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added support for booking transfers between accounts, including creating, finding, and listing transfers.
    • Added an option to specify the JSON:API type for related records.
    • Updated the usage example to demonstrate creating a savings account and transferring funds to it.

Walkthrough

The release adds Unit::BookPayment with create, find, and list operations, payment fields, and account and customer associations. APIResource.belongs_to accepts an optional JSON:API type; when omitted, it uses the lower-camelized relationship name. The README adds a savings-account transfer example. The version and changelog are updated to 1.2.0, and specs cover payment creation, relationship serialization, lookup, listing, and the version.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Merge Risk: 🟠 High · up to 1be32

BookPayment creation can fail for its normal counterparty-account flow, and supported business-owned accounts can deserialize incorrectly. These issues should be fixed before merging.

value with Book and assert that the listed results are book payments.

with Unit before running the example.

- Line 41: Update the book payment test around the payment.type assertion to
fund the source account sufficiently before creating the payment, then assert
that payment.status is Sent so the test verifies a successful transfer.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Use the documented resource types for both counterparty relationships.

When BookPayment.create includes these relationships, the serializer sends counterparty_account as depositAccount and counterparty_customer as counterpartyCustomer. The BookPayments contract requires account for both account relationships and customer for both customer relationships. The API can reject these create requests.

Update the counterparty associations in BookPayment so counterparty_account
serializes with the account resource type and counterparty_customer serializes
with the customer resource type. Leave the existing class_name values and other
associations unchanged.
