fix(projects): preserve grouped renames to repository names - #25244
Renaming a grouped project to its repository name is skipped when every checkout already has that folder title. Even when saved, the group label treats the explicit name as a default and shows owner/repo again. Fixes https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/issues/15049.
Change
Persist whether a project title was explicitly updated, expose it as an optional shell field, and use it in grouped labels and the settings save check. Untouched groups retain their repository labels. Migration 070 backfills recorded title updates, and upserts preserve established rename intent across migration baselines.
Verification
Regression tests failed on main before the fix; the upgrade regression failed before adding the backfill.
Blacksmith vp run check:changed passed: format, lint, both knip passes, affected typechecks (30 packages), and 107 tests across 10 files on the initial fix. The upgrade and baseline follow-ups also passed check:changed, including affected typechecks, all 6 migration tests, and both store tests.
Real web client, system Chrome: two checkouts named demo retain the default acme/demo label until renamed. Renaming to demo now updates the label and survives reload. A later non-title update preserves rename intent in the store test.
Two independent review rounds found upgrade and baseline-replay cases; both were fixed with failing-first regressions. No further delegated review round was run, honoring the requested limit.
Unverified: native mobile, Electron, and separate environments. Mobile shares the grouping helper; shell transport is shared by connection modes.
Before: the name returns to acme/demo after reload.
After: the same checkouts retain demo after reload.

System Chrome exercised two actual checkout entries through Settings: untouched acme/demo, rename to demo on blur, then reload retaining demo. Existing implementation before/after and motion evidence above remains applicable. Native mobile, Electron, and separate environments were not rerun.
The change adds a persisted hasCustomTitle flag to project shells. Group rename logic uses the flag to recognize explicitly saved titles, and group label derivation uses it to distinguish custom titles from repository defaults.

The project shell and database projection carry hasCustomTitle. Migration 70 sets the flag from project title events. New projects start with the flag unset, and title updates set it. Tests cover persistence and migration behavior.
pingdotgg/t3code#23531: It changes the same migration registry, project row and shell shapes, and grouping logic. Its migration also uses ID 70.

Explanation
The title "fix(projects): preserve grouped renames to repository names" follows conventional commit format and names the main change: grouped project renames that match the repository name are now kept. The changeset adds a persisted hasCustomTitle flag, a migration, and updated grouping and settings logic, which all serve that fix.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #15049 requires grouped projects to save a rename that removes the owner or group prefix while retaining the repository name. The PR records explicit title updates in ProjectStore, exposes hasCustomTitle through OrchestrationProjectShell, uses that state in deriveProjectGroupLabel and projectGroupTitleNeedsUpdate, and adds regression coverage for matching repository names, migration backfill, and persistence across later updates.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes stay connected to issue #15049. The migration, store updates, shell contract change, grouping logic, settings logic, and related fixture and regression-test updates support persistence and display of grouped renames. No unrelated behavior is demonstrated by the supplied whole-PR summary.

Explanation
The description clearly covers the problem, change, linked issue, verification results, screenshots, limitations, and implementation context. The required “Scope and approval” heading is omitted, although the linked issue and focused scope provide partial coverage.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a focused regression fix that persists explicit grouped project renames, backfills existing rename history, and updates only the related label and settings logic. The schema addition is backward-compatible and the changed behavior is covered by targeted tests.

A later project.created baseline can enter ProjectStoreV2.apply after a rename. Its hasCustomTitle: false does not clear the stored flag, but title = excluded.title still replaces the custom title with the baseline title. The test misses this because both titles are "repo" and it checks only hasCustomTitle.

reproduced on github/main at 441a4ebd65 in a separate installed worktree: two real clones of octocat/Hello-World, added through the web app, group as octocat/Hello-World. renaming to Hello-World returns to octocat/Hello-World after reload.
repeated through the actual settings UI on the pr using repo playwright and /usr/bin/google-chrome. the untouched group retains octocat/Hello-World; renaming on blur changes it to Hello-World, which survives reload and a full server restart.
ordinary rename to Hello World review, rename back to Hello-World, and changing the project's default model all persist after the completed group update. both stored checkout rows retain has_custom_title = 1.

native ios/android, electron shell, other providers, and separate remote/relay/tunnel environments were not exercised on this linux vm.
live migration from the pre-070 base remains unverified. an extra base-server attempt stalled with repeated event-loop warnings for over 10 minutes, so it was abandoned. the existing migration and store tests passed remotely, but they are not a live upgrade demonstration. historical baseline replay was not exercised through a user path.
immediate reload during a multi-checkout save can interrupt it after the first member. this was observed while driving the pr; normal completed saves passed. the sequential save flow is also present on main. this pass does not claim interruption safety.
all task-started dev servers and the automation browser have stopped. no merge, rebase, force-push, label changes, or other pr changes.
