ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a contained RTL/LTR rendering fix for agent question cards across web and mobile, with the existing direction heuristic moved to shared code and focused browser coverage added. Runtime effects are limited to text alignment and ordering; no product defaults, static-analysis suppressions, schema changes, or sensitive areas are involved. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Shared text direction utility packages/shared/src/textDirection.ts, packages/shared/package.json, apps/web/src/textDirection.ts |
The shared package adds and exports TextDirection and textDirection. The web module re-exports the shared implementation. |
Pending input direction apps/web/src/components/chat/ComposerPendingUserInputPanel.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/PendingUserInputCard.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/ComposerPendingUserInputPanel.direction.browser.test.tsx |
Web and mobile components apply inferred direction to question text, option labels, and descriptions. Web option rows use text-start. The browser test checks text direction and confirms the option button remains left-to-right. |
Citation text and comment direction apps/web/src/components/chat/AssistantCitationChip.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/AssistantCitationCommentEditor.tsx |
Citation labels, quoted text, optional comments, and the comment textarea receive direction inferred from their text. |

Note Written by thanks @Dananz. your fix correctly reuses the existing direction heuristic and keeps the option rows and controls in place. i kept all your commits and merged current main into the original branch at verification:
@Dananz: one nonblocking upstream android gap remains. react native 0.88 ignores before, expanded: after, expanded: before, collapsed: after, collapsed: final status: all 6 reported pr checks are green, conflict check is mergeable, and two independent reviews approve |

@maria-rcks thanks for taking this over and for the approval. I pushed three more commits after your merge, so it needs another look:
"Line by line" is the commit before these, "Whole set" is the head. Web, mostly Hebrew set

Problem
When an agent asks a question in Hebrew or Arabic (Claude's AskUserQuestion, or any user input request), the question card shows its options left to right on web, desktop and mobile. Hebrew labels and descriptions sit on the left, the period lands at the start of the sentence, and mixed lines such as
תנסה ב-t3, 3. אחד שתיים שלושorגרסה 2.5 של Node.js (בערך 40%)come out scrambled. The citation chip in the composer and its comment box have the same problem.#22777 fixed this for chat messages, and the web card's question sentence already follows it because it renders through
ChatMarkdown. The header, the collapsed preview, the options and the citation chip are plain text, so they don't.To reproduce, ask an agent to ask you a question with options in Hebrew, or cite a Hebrew sentence and add a Hebrew comment.
Change
ComposerPendingUserInputPanel):dir={textDirection(text)}, the same pattern asSidebarThreadRowandChatHeader, so each line reads in its own direction.dirgoes on the card, so the radios, shortcut numbers, header and counter sit on the matching side, and every line aligns to that side.AssistantCitationChip,AssistantCitationCommentEditor): the comment textarea, the composer chip label, and the quote and comment in the citation popover getdir={textDirection(text)}. Text direction only.PendingUserInputCard): the same rule as web. The card computes one direction for the whole question set, and every line aligns to that side.directionandwritingDirectionstyles for their own reading direction, so punctuation lands at the correct end.textAlign: left/rightas start/end on a line whosedirectionisrtl, so the card picks the value that lands on the set's side physically.SelectableMarkdownTextnow passes the fork'swritingDirectionprop and a paragraphtextAlignthrough, so the question follows the same side.textDirectionnow lives in@t3tools/shared/textDirection.apps/web/src/textDirection.tsre-exports it, so existing web imports and tests are untouched. Not touched: on mobile, the custom answer field is the native composer, which #23587 covers. #23587 also touches the Enriched Markdown direction props, so whichever lands second needs a small rebase.
Scope and approval
This is a follow-up to merged #22777 for #13622. It applies the same rule to the surfaces that change didn't reach. No new heuristic. #15320 included this card before it was closed in the PR cleanup.
Verification
ComposerPendingUserInputPanel.direction.browser.test.tsx: a mostly Hebrew set computes tortlon the card and its lines, an English option inside it staysltr, and a mostly English set keeps the cardltron its Hebrew question. The first test fails without the whole-set direction.vp run check:changed: format, lint, knip, typecheck, and tests pass.vp run devat 2x, and the iOS development build on an iPhone 17 simulator (iOS 27) paired to the same dev server, at 3x. Claude Sonnet 5.5 asked the questions with AskUserQuestion. "Line by line" is the previous commit on this branch, "Whole set" is the current head.directionstyle follows React Native's Android text layout code, but I didn't run it on an emulator.Question card, mostly Hebrew set
