Looks like you've added these as pedal markings rather than ordinary lines? That's probably contributing to this - pedal lines are treated specially in layout and it is somewhat unsurprising that there might be problems when used in non-traditional ways like this. So I'd suggest deleting these and adding normal lines instead, to avoid further problems. Or at the very least, disable autoplace for any pedal lines you don't want to be subject to MuseScore's usual layout algorithms. And for lines you wish to move elements to the opposite side of the staff from where they normally appear, don't just drag them - use "X" to flip them.

That said, I also don't see exactly what is going wrong here, but it seems to have to do with the fact that the line is still set to "below" and thus. on open, the offset is being applied relative to the bottom staff line and the hooks pointing up, even though the line has been physically dragged above the staff and internally it seems it was automatically converted to "above" the offset recalculated relative to the top line. I'm thinking maybe dragging the line above the staff set the placement to above but it wasn't written that way, or was ignored on read?

I actually put all these just as lines rather than pedal markings. But for some reason after I updated MuseScore last day, to the version that just came out the other day, I notice now that all of these lines have been changed to pedal lines, like you mentioned. When creating the issue I didn't even pay attention to it because I was completely sure I didn't put them as pedal markings. Now I just tried replacing some of these boxes and they behave just fine. I think the issue is that they were all replaced as pedal lines in this last version for some reason. The problem is that this occurs on every score I have and it will be problematic changing again all of them.

I can't imagine any reason ordinary lines could ever be converted to pedal automatically. Can you attach one of your scores that you have not yet saved in 4.7.5 and thus still has the ordinary lines, so we can see this automatic conversion happening? I strongly suspect they actually were pedal lines all along and you just didn't realize it. If you added them from the palette and they already had hooks on both ends, those are pedal lines - hover over it in the palette to see this for yourself.

When I usually put them they come without any hooks, I add them later to form these boxes. I have this copy of the same score of some days ago which I still haven't saved from last update but they are marked as pedal lines. So right now I maybe confused and don't remember correctly, but still they never gave me this problem at all.

That score was saved in 4.7.4 - so indeed, before the most recent update - but those are all pedal lines as well. They do open correctly - both in previous versions and in 4.7.5. However, upon saving in 4.7.5 and then reopening, they do get messed up in the same way as the previously attached score. That wasn't true prior to 4.7.5 - opening, saving, and reopening does not introduce any problems. But also, once saved (and thus messed up) in 4.7.5, they remain messed up when opening in previous versions.

So I'm thinking my initial guess is probably pretty accurate: I think the placement property is not getting written for these, and thus the offset is being calculated relative to the bottom line rather than the top, and the direction of the hooks is backwards. Possibly this was broken by #34192? Anyhow, enough of my guessing, I'm sure someone can get to the bottom of it from here.

Meanwhile, this definitely seems to be a bug and not any sort of expected effect of using a pedal line - and yet, the bug does seem specific to pedal lines, so replacing them does seem like a good fix. Not that you probably relish needing to do this! But since the bug only happens on save, you should still be safe to load and not edit any existing scores. Or grap a portable version of 4.7.4 to use for these until a fix becomes available,

Here then is a simple test case to demonstrate the bug in a more basic form:

1. new score
2. add a pedal line
3. press "X" to flip it above the staff
4. save
5. reload

Result: pedal line has reverted to below the staff
