This PR adds submissions/lab1.md with the deployment, critical-path verification, dependency map, failure exploration, load-generator results, and bonus resource-usage analysis.
It also updates app/gateway/main.py so an unreachable payments service returns an actionable 503 response instead of a generic 502.
