The workbench was pinned to render v0.2.1, five releases back, so a page it opened was drawn by a renderer that knew nothing of PDF functions, shadings, patterns, Type 1 and bare CFF font programs, stand-ins for fonts a file does not carry, or the mesh shadings. Every plot in an arXiv figure came up with its panels blank. render v0.7.0, reader v0.4.0 and ops v0.4.0, and the font libraries they brought with them.
