Update pandas to 3.1.0 and Ruff to 0.17.2, and patch the existing pypdf advisory with 6.21.4.
The pandas update exposed an existing research-summary bug: a strict
gain > 0comparison counted numerical noise from tied repetitions as wins. Both summaries now treat gains within 1e-9 percentage points of zero as ties. The observed residuals are at most 5.6e-15 points; the smallest genuine gain in the saved experiments is 0.04 points. Every corrected positive-share value was independently checked using exact rational arithmetic on integer correct-prediction counts. Means, uncertainty estimates, and raw simulation results are unchanged.Regenerated the affected summary CSVs and paper. Two displayed movement shares also round differently with pandas 3.1 (7.57 to 7.58 and 2.76 to 2.77); their stored numerical estimates are unchanged. Figure page content is unchanged.
Validation: both new regression cases failed before the fix and pass after it; all 49 tests, lint, formatting, typing, docstrings, formal theory checks, exact generated-artifact checks, full LaTeX/BibTeX build, package build/Twine checks, and preen 0.8.0 strict checks pass locally with Python 3.12. CI must pass on the final candidate before merge.
