• the content REST layer stores and reads resource metadata with key and language swapped, so the Admin Console and templates do not see metadata written through REST, REST GET does not see Admin Console metadata, and every REST save deletes the alt and title of Image attributes.
• a null or non-string metadata value returns 500 instead of a validation error, and a null value stored by a future fix would fail later when the content XML is generated.
• a resource value sent without name stores the text representation of the map ({id=…}) as the attribute text, which is published as alt text or caption.
• a null language value in a resource attribute throws a NullPointerException and returns 500.
• REST accepts a resource only in a non-default language, a content the Admin Console cannot produce, and the default language then renders no image.
• an Image attribute accepts a resource of another type (for example a PDF), which breaks image renditions on the portal.
