Summary

This PR adds a complete set of comparison pages positioning node-flow against other workflow orchestration engines, along with supporting infrastructure for LLM crawlers and improved SEO.

Key Changes

New Documentation Pages

  • Comparison index (/docs/alternatives/index.mdx): Overview of workflow orchestration models and a comparison table of 12 engines
  • Engine-specific comparisons: Detailed pages for Conductor, Orkes, Temporal, Trigger.dev, Inngest, Restate, iii, Hatchet, AWS Step Functions, Airflow, and Camunda
  • Open-source guide (open-source-workflow-engines.mdx): Focused comparison of open-source and source-available engines with licensing details

LLM Crawler Support

  • Added /llms.txt endpoint: Index of all documentation pages in llmstxt.org format for AI answer engines
  • Added /llms-full.txt endpoint: Complete documentation corpus as concatenated Markdown
  • Added per-page Markdown routes at {page-url}.md for LLM crawlers to fetch clean text without HTML/scripts
  • Updated robots.txt to explicitly allow AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Perplexity, etc.) and document the decision

SEO and Metadata Improvements

  • Expanded site keywords to include alternative-focused searches ("Conductor alternative", "Temporal alternative", etc.)
  • Enhanced JSON-LD structured data with SoftwareApplication and SoftwareSourceCode schemas, feature lists, and author information
  • Updated site title and description to emphasize self-hosted positioning and Conductor compatibility
  • Added sitemap priority weighting by section (guide and alternatives prioritized)
  • Added metadata link to Markdown alternate for each documentation page

Landing Page Integration

  • Extracted comparison links and FAQ into landing-content.ts for reuse across landing page and structured data
  • Updated landing page to reference the new comparison pages
  • Added FAQ component that renders both readable text and FAQPage structured data from a single source

Navigation and Structure

  • Added "Compare" section to main navigation linking to /docs/alternatives
  • Created alternatives/meta.json organizing comparison pages into logical groups (Conductor family, Durable execution, Other orchestrators)

Implementation Details

  • Markdown compilation is built into the bundle via fumadocs-mdx config to support /llms.txt and per-page .md routes without requiring content/ directory at runtime
  • Rewrite in next.config.mjs maps .md requests to the llms.mdx route handler
  • Single source of truth for FAQ content prevents drift between rendered page and structured data
  • All comparison pages follow a consistent structure: why people look for alternatives, at-a-glance comparison table, when to choose each option, and migration guidance where applicable

…wler rules

- Add a Compare section (/docs/alternatives) comparing node-flow with
Netflix Conductor, Orkes, Temporal, Trigger.dev, Inngest, Restate,
iii, Hatchet, AWS Step Functions, Airflow and Camunda, plus an
open-source workflow engines overview that states node-flow's
  source-available licence plainly.
- Add a <FAQ> MDX component that renders visible Q&A and emits
FAQPage JSON-LD from the same data; use it on every comparison page
  and on the landing page.
- Serve /llms.txt, /llms-full.txt and a Markdown twin of every docs
  page at <url>.md, advertised via rel=alternate type=text/markdown.
- Name AI crawlers explicitly in robots.txt; weight the sitemap toward
  the guide and comparison pages.
- Richer site metadata: keyword-bearing title and description, expanded
keywords, Search Console / Bing / Yandex verification via env vars,
SoftwareSourceCode and featureList in the structured data.
- Landing page: keyword-bearing hero copy, a "How it compares" section,
an FAQ, and Compare links in the header, mobile nav and footer.

CI's `nx format:check` covers every changed file, including
landing.css and landing.tsx, which were not prettier-formatted on main.
