Software engineer & IT leader · full-stack .NET & web · cloud · embedded/IoT
I like taking a problem from a napkin sketch all the way to production, then keeping it running.
30+ years building software and IT systems: I've founded and run technology companies, led engineering teams of up to 50 people, and today I build business-critical applications as an IT consultant and software engineer. I'm happiest at the seam between software, hardware, and the cloud — barcode and auto-ID products, embedded devices, and AI-assisted applications.
| Area | Highlights |
|---|---|
| Full-stack & .NET | C#, .NET 8/10 & .NET Framework/Core, ASP.NET Core/MVC, Blazor, WPF, WinForms, EF Core, REST/GraphQL, microservices |
| Web & front-end | React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), Tailwind, Bootstrap, HTML5/CSS3, OAuth 2.0 / OIDC |
| Cloud & DevOps | Azure (Functions, Entra ID, M365), AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins & Azure DevOps CI/CD, HA/disaster recovery |
| Data | SQL Server (T-SQL), PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, data modeling & migration |
| AI & automation | LLM integration (OpenAI & Anthropic APIs), local models via Ollama, MCP servers, AI coding & agent design |
| Embedded & IoT | ESP8266/ESP32 & Arduino, CAN-Bus, sensor and control hardware, 3D CAD & rapid prototyping |
| Leadership | Founding teams, roadmaps and budgets ($5M+), vendor negotiation, legacy modernization, mentoring |

Free, open-source, cross-platform barcode label generator: 16 legacy formats plus QR, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec — an Avalonia desktop app, a Blazor web app, and PDF label sheets. |
iOS and Android barcode/NFC scanner in .NET MAUI that reads what the generator prints — including MSI Plessey and USPS Postnet, which mainstream scanning SDKs don't support. |
|
AI-assisted returns-and-repairs wizard with a deterministic eligibility policy, per-product paid-repair pricing, and MCP policy tools. |
Reusable .NET building blocks: resilient SQL access, input validation, identity helpers, diagnostics, and Microsoft Graph email. |
|
Migrating a classic Microsoft Access database to an ASP.NET Core Blazor app on .NET 10 with EF Core — a worked example of legacy modernization. |
A classical Chinese dream book (周公解夢) in plain language, with localized retrieval and Gemini-assisted readings. |
🔌 Embedded & IoT — a family of ESP8266/ESP32 builds: Geiger counter · weather station · RSS reader · GPS clock · piano humidity control · OpenSCAD models
Barcode and auto-ID technology · embedded hardware and sensors · local-first AI and agents · open-source tooling · 3D printing and CAD · making classical Chinese texts readable for modern audiences · and the occasional excuse to write firmware for a device that beeps.
Currently an IT consultant and software engineer building Windows, mobile, and multi-platform applications (AI customer support, MCP servers, REST APIs, and .NET Framework → .NET 10 migrations). Previously founder & CEO of IBE Group (2004–2024), shipping hundreds of OEM desktop and mobile applications for clients including Asus, Dell, and Toshiba America, and earlier founder/CTO of Gopher King and ODF Technologies. Earlier in my career I ran IT departments in law firms and research institutes.
