cstr

Tests Benchmarks Fuzz

cstr is a self-contained string library for ISO C11, C17, C23, and C++ (through extern "C").

Copy cstr.h and cstr.c into your project to use it. The default build needs no external libraries or data files at runtime.

The library provides owned strings, fixed buffers, string views, Unicode text handling, search, formatting, codecs, regular expressions, and hashing.

Documentation

  • Build and test: add the library to a project, run tests and benchmarks, and generate Unicode tables.
  • Memory and API contracts: ownership, buffer sizes, errors, and thread safety.
  • API guide: function groups, units, and performance costs.
  • Unicode data: supported Unicode features, table layout, and reported binary sizes.
  • Benchmarks: recorded results and the test environment.
  • Fuzzing: build and run sanitizer-backed libFuzzer targets.

License

The library code and algorithms use the MIT license. The bundled Unicode data uses Unicode License v3 (Unicode-3.0). See the license notices in cstr.h and cstr.c.
