Assembly part quantities change by itself

I am setting up an assembly. I write part number and pick up the necessary parts from the part list. After picking the part, SL gets back to the assembly screen. And I see that quantity of some of the previously added parts becomes zero. Some 22.000 (twentytwo thousands) becomes 22. 1.100 (one thousand one hundred) becomes 1.1. Even some of them which previously saved in that assembly becomes blank. If I press update, that part is removed from the assembly part list as the quantity field is blank.

Something going on here. Not always. But happens pretty often.

A formatted number like 1.234,56 isn't a number anymore that can be used in calculations, but a string. And if such a string is formatted a second time, it's broken. Now we have to find where this happens.

This happens when you either enter a description or an incomplete part number and select the item from the list or when you add a new part or service that doesn't exist yet. All the editable numbers on the screen are affected, break and sell price for customers and ROP too. The sell and list price of the assembly itself are recalculated using the values in the BOM, that's why they look correct. But this means you can't change them (strange).

First, I need to clarify something: When I write something bigger than a thousand, I enter like 1234,56. SL correctly shows it as 1.234,56 after update as per the format setting in Preferences page.

I write string of part number, press update, SL shows me all the parts which has the written string in part number. This is correct and how SL worked as always. Then, I wrote the quantity. Then update and save the assembly. So far no problem. Then, I add another part using the same method. When I came back to the parts list of assembly,I see that quantity of the previously correctly added part has changed or blanked.

I played some more. Here are my findings:

• If I add, say, 614,10 as quantity (there is a comma for decimal), the quantity blanks.
• If I add a quantity bigger than 1.000 (one thousand), say, 2.200 (2 thousands and 2 hundreds), the quantity becomes 2,2.
• If I add a integer (without a decimal) between 0-999, the quantity doesn't change. It always stays correct.

It seems to me something is wrong with number formats.

As for prices, I didn't check them fully. When I see something wrong, I'll report.

I played some more. Here are my findings:

That's what I found too. I wrote my previous comment to tell you that I can reproduce the problem and that it's even bigger: a change in an assembly can corrupt any number greater or equal 1000 on the screen. There is no need that you spend too much time on this.

A part of this issue is solved in 4.0.8. Everything that is related to the number format should now work. Not solved is the problem with disappearing numbers when a new line is added to the BOM.

I haven't seen any disappearing quantity so far. I will continue to observe.

Again disappeared item from Assembly BOM.

Quantity was 16,25. I did some edit on the items listed in that assembly. At one point, the item which has 16,25 as quantity disappeared all together. If I don't use any decimals in quantities, there is no problem. But quantity with decimals (and also probably less than 1000), it disappears.

No, numbers without decimals also disappear (an item with a quantity of 28720).

On top of that, above the BOM, Customers with Sell Price lines also disappear.

Again, on Edit Assembly page:

Customer line disappeared
Quantity 1155 became 1,155 (Before it was correctly shown as 1.155)
Quantity 28720 became 28,72 (Before it was correctly shown as 28.720)
Quantity 16,25 disappeared (item vanished)

If I don't save the above and open the very same Edit Assembly page again, all look correct.

NB: I use comma for decimals, dot for thousands.

I guess, the above observation shows that the data in SL is intact. Something wrong with the presentation on GUI.

This issue is really sort of showstopper. I am struggling to keep the assembly parts correct. Client disappears, quantities change. I need to check all the parts every time before saving.
