Someone turns experimental features on in their profile, forgets, and then meets an editor that behaves differently from the one their colleague is looking at. Nothing on screen says why, so it reads as the product being broken rather than as a setting they chose.
There is one boolean on the user and nothing in the model that says which features are experimental, so the honest thing to say is that the mode is on, not to label individual features.
Fixed in #5177: a row in the sidebar footer on every page, and a note in the account menu that says what it means and links to the switch.
