From tape-out to TypeScript. Engineer, physicist, and freelance consultant in Bochum, Germany.
I work on decentralised data acquisition and observability: getting reliable measurements out of complex systems, whether that system is a particle detector, a production line, or a distributed software stack.
- 🔭 Currently: PhD thesis in experimental hadron physics (HV-MAPS ASICs for MIP detection, PANDA experiment at FAIR) and an open-source bitstream deployment pipeline for the Zynq-7020
- 🔧 Freelancing through my company nabla B: embedded firmware, PCB design and bring-up, FPGA development, measurement and DAQ systems → stephan@boekelmann.net
- 🎪 I organise emBO++, co-organise KiCon Europe and the Practical Data Science Congress, and chair open Skunkforce e.V.
- ✍️ I write, usually weekly: maxclerkwell.github.io
| Zynq bitstream pipeline | Open-source path from JTAG bring-up to a REST API for FPGA bitstreams |
| OmnAIScope | Open-access USB oscilloscope for automotive diagnostics (RP2040) |
| PowerSense | Ten years of non-contact PoE power monitoring for DB Netz |
| Enclosureless Cases | Patented PCB-as-enclosure approach, no injection moulding |
