I write software in Germany and I like to see how far a good idea can go when it gets built properly.
On 6 May 2026 Bose switched off the SoundTouch cloud, and millions of perfectly good speakers forgot how to play the radio overnight. I took that a little personally. So I built SoundTouch Reborn and brought them back, without the Bose cloud and without an account.
Six speakers on my desk as a test lab, a lot of reverse engineering, and AI as my pair programmer. The bar stays where a good team would put it: 1,400+ tests, signed and notarized releases, 13 languages, and a community that finds bugs faster than I can make coffee.
| streborn | Bose SoundTouch without the Bose cloud. A small Go agent on the speaker, a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux, a phone remote. |
| streborn-doom | Purely for science 😉 The original DOOM on a SoundTouch: its tiny display, its IR remote, its speaker. If it has a screen, it has to run DOOM. Those are the rules. #ItRunsDoom |
| spacemonger | The classic 90s disk space treemap, now on x64 and ARM64. I may have a thing for old stuff that deserves a second life. |
A new desktop layout for SoundTouch Reborn, designed together with the people who use it. Have a look or vote on what comes next.
Fun fact: the best debugging tool in this whole project is a user who sends the log file.
