Fundz Agent API — examples

Working examples for the Fundz Agent API: a buying signals API and MCP server for sales agents returning dated funding rounds and SEC 8-K events, each item linked to the filing it came from.

Every example here has been run end to end against the live API with a sandbox key.

watch_accounts/ — watch 50 accounts, draft an email when an 8-K fires

The one most people want. Polls watchlist_diff for what moved, then drafts an email that quotes the evidence and links the source, so a rep can open the filing before sending.

export FUNDZ_KEY=fundz_ak_...
cd watch_accounts
python watch_accounts.py --accounts accounts.txt --since 2026-08-01

Real output:

watching 5 accounts since 2026-08-01

1 account(s) moved:

To: <your contact at Databricks>
Subject: Databricks — funding on 2026-08-12

Saw the 2026-08-12 filing: Databricks raised $5B.

0.5 units spent this run.

⛔ It never calls why_now. watchlist_diff already returns new_events inline — date, summary and source_url — so calling why_now per mover would spend 1 unit each to re-fetch what you were already handed. Reach for why_now when you want a company's fuller history.

⛔ Cost is per company CHECKED, not per mover. 0.1 units each, so a 50-account book is 5 units per poll whether or not anything moved. 400 domains per request — the ceiling is the edge, and splitting a book costs exactly the same.

langgraph/ — a LangGraph agent

Fundz as a tool node in a LangGraph flow.

claude_desktop/ — MCP in Claude Desktop

Point Claude Desktop at the remote MCP server; no install.

Getting a key

Sandbox keys are issued by hand — email john@fundz.net. Pricing is metered at $0.06/unit with a $25/month minimum; Platform tiers at 50k / 150k / 400k units.

What this API does not do

No contacts, emails, or phone numbers. It tells you which companies just did something worth calling about; you bring your own contact source. And when there is no event, it returns an empty answer rather than inventing a reason to call — which is the property that makes the evidence quotable.
