Summary

Follow-up to the weekly Renovate batching (#24, Emkraan/emkraan-apps#2708). The single npm (non-major) group mixed devDependencies with production minors, and a Renovate group only automerges when every member does, so the grouped PR stopped automerging.

  • New rule npm dev (non-major): matchCategories: js + matchDepTypes: devDependencies + minor/patch, automerge: true, automergeType: pr. Placed after the npm group so it wins for devDependencies. Same schedule (Monday 00:00 to 05:59 America/New_York) and limits (prConcurrentLimit 5, prHourlyLimit 2) since those are top-level.
  • Production non-major groups are unchanged: in private repos the Eir github_automerge reconciler merges any CLEAN PR, so no Renovate automerge flag is needed. Majors stay held and labelled for renovate_major_gate (Eir now explicitly skips them, Emkraan/homelab-stacks#1176).
  • platformAutomerge left at the Renovate default, consistent with every existing tier 1 rule; Eir merges a stuck native request directly after its 15 minute grace window.

Verification

npx --yes --package renovate renovate-config-validator renovate.json: Config validated successfully.
