SaveDataPath in config

Hello, I wonder if it would be possible to introduce a configuration option to define the save directory path, as a alternative to the CLI parameter --savedir.

It could be done, but is there a particular use case you have for this that isn't a portable install? The idea was it wouldn't really matter since you'd have to create a batch/shell script anyway to specify the config location.

My goal was to try to do a integration of ECWolf inside our RetroDECK project (FOSS, GPL3).

I did mange to get it to run inside the Flatpak environment via a portable installation.

I wanted to support dynamic path configuration, enabling the game directory to be defined according to the user’s chosen location.

If the directory is subsequently relocated through RetroDECK’s management tools by the user, the configuration file is automatically updated to reflect the new path. This approach removes the need to modify the launcher script, as only the configuration file requires adjustment and contain all the logic.

Additionally, I'm looking into dynamically detecting the selected Wolfenstein 3D data set (WL6, H3L etc..) and any associated mod files.

The goal was to parse this information and pass the appropriate parameters to the ECWolf executable via a custom internal .wolf definition file. Kinda like how I think Batocera does it.

Yes Batocera uses parameters inside a file, plain text ... And it is .ecwolf
Was the most flexible solution imho
