Data, AI, and evidence for accessible, whole-person health.
We are a data and artificial intelligence research unit within Northern Medical Center, with the projects supported by Northern Medical Research Foundation. We bring together clinical mentorship, biostatistics, data science, and responsible AI to develop transparent, practical tools for health research and real-world use.
- Human-centered research — start with the needs of patients, clinicians, communities, and public-health partners.
- Transparent evidence — make assumptions, data provenance, limitations, and uncertainty visible.
- Responsible AI — design for human oversight, privacy, fairness, safety, and appropriate use.
- Reproducible methods — favor documented workflows, open standards, and reusable research outputs.
- Accessible implementation — move useful methods beyond papers and into settings where they can make a practical difference.
2026 HHS TOPx Tech Sprint Phase 1 Winner — advancing to Phase 2. See the official NIH Challenge page and TOPx sprint community page.
Diagnostic Odyssey Ledger was selected in the AI and Invisible Illness sprint for its approach to the Cost of Illness challenge area using artificial intelligence, U.S. Open Data, and real-world evidence.
The project is an AI-assisted, evidence-linked prototype exploring how fragmented health and public data can help quantify the often-hidden burden of delayed recognition in invisible illness. It is currently being developed as part of Phase 2 of the TOPx Tech Sprint.
