Is it possible to Render a realistic Image like JLCPCB?

Hello,

It's been a while i've been looking for a project that enables to render a realistic image of the final PCB that is going to be manufactured.

pygerber is very close to that , unlike other renderers which don't handle full gerber specifications and have problems with board cutouts or malformed polygons.

i can see it's possible to render multiple layers at once, however some details are missing.
1- board cutout (and also board outline)
2- Drill holes (plated and non plated)
3- base substrate

is there any option that enables a full 2D render of all the files at once, like a realistic image?

When you ask about realistic image, what comes to my mind is a raytraced, fully shaded 3D render with reflections and stuff - PyGerber doesn't do that, it was never meant to do so.

I think yes, at least as long as by realistic you mean a flat PNG file :)

So technically PyGerber is not tied to any particular set of layers, but It does rely on FileTypeEnum to apply colors. If you have a layer type that was not specified there or want to change color of it, you will need sacrifice some other layer type to re-color it.
Yeah now that I am explaining that, its clearly a design flaw, worthy of a patch 2.4.4, It definitely should be an option to specify a unlimited number of custom file types.

First, now I see that 3.0.0a4 doesn't even have multi layer rendering implemented at all, terrible oversight, secondly, same flaw with FileTypeEnum - you have to sacrifice one to set custom color (so, definitely something to fix), but overall its possible to do:
