The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is an institutional mechanism that fosters a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and intellectual property within a Higher Education Institution (HEI). It facilitates ideation, mentoring, prototyping, IPR creation, industry collaboration, and experiential learning, enabling the transformation of ideas and research into impactful solutions, technologies, and entrepreneurial ventures.
The IIC at Amrita Coimbatore brings together students, faculty, researchers, innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs to create a vibrant culture of innovation and problem-solving on campus.
Our activities are organized through two major divisions:
- IIC Council (Faculty and Student)
- IIC R&D Cell
The IIC Student Council (IIC SC) drives student-centric innovation and entrepreneurship activities across the campus. It provides students with opportunities to learn, collaborate, participate in competitions, connect with industry, and explore innovation beyond the classroom.
The Student Council operates through five key verticals:
💡 Innovation – Promoting ideation, creativity, problem-solving, and innovation-driven activities.
🚀 Startup – Encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting students in transforming ideas into viable ventures.
🎓 Internship – Connecting students with opportunities for industry exposure, research, internships, and experiential learning.
🛡️ IPR – Creating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights and encouraging students to protect and commercialize their innovations.
🔬 ATL Sarthi – Encouraging innovation and hands-on technological learning among school students through mentoring and outreach initiatives.
The IIC R&D Cell focuses on strengthening the research and development ecosystem among students by encouraging interdisciplinary projects, research-oriented thinking, and the application of technology to real-world challenges.
