Can't remove the add-on after a redeploy

After a redeploy the add-on installed resources are lost. However, you can't uninstall it because of the following error:

After a redeploy the add-on installed resources are lost

Is this fixable by implementing an onAfterRedeployContainer event handler? (e.g. just run the install event again? or is there some 'state' that needs to be saved onBefore as well?)
