Generic serialiser for records - stored by reference only

It would be nice to have a serialiser for records without having it modeled inside the DataObj. Similar to the Object serialiser you have with cDataTypeObject, which does not copy the data into the DataObj but instead serialises it directly.

Any plans or pointers ?

I have tried something with a TValue, but unfortunately the serialising is all wrong. Have tried the same with the cDataTypeObject, but it also fails when trying to serialise a generic data type.

Love your idea and would love to pursue it. The direct object serialization needs a lot of work too as it's not fully baked. I have a big commit coming soon, so down the road I would like to investigate that.

Hi Sean,

Just completed updating a record serialisation routine for DDO.

Now, I can do this:

 var amsg:=remoteFuncs.funcList[0];
 var aname:=amsg.funcID or RPCnotification;
 amsg.InvokeFunc(remotefuncs);
 addo.Clear;
 ADDO.AsFrame.NewSlot(aname.ToHexString(2)).AsRawRecord:=amsg.funcParams;

After the above initial setup, I only need to call CBOR.Encode(ADDO) and it updates the output stream on the basis of the saved data inside the record.

I am using DDO - CBOR for a real time RPC, so, the normal ADDO encode and decode made too many copies of the data.

FYI, the AsRawRecord is saved as a TValue record in the DataStore.

I haven't updated the Object portion of your code as I am not using objects for my current project.

I am a bit unclear on how to share my code with you if you want it - still very unused to Github and versioning - everything gets saved to multiple hard disks at my end - very old school like me! But I can email you the zip file if you want.
