Dataset Name
Optimized GLIHT Orthomosaics
Dataset Description
The fine-resolution G-LiHT images we will be using are stacked red, green, blue, NIR images that are mosaicked and orthorectified using photogrammetric software (SimActive Correlator3D) and ancillary G-LiHT GNSS-INS and DTM data. The cloud-optimized GeoTIFF images (16-bit depth, deflate compressed) are ~1 km on the longest side with a resolution of about 5 cm, and have the same bounds as other G-LiHT products (e.g., lidar DTM, CHM, metrics, surface temperature, VSWIR reflectance and vegetation indices) so that they can be stacked and ready for analysis.
A typical tile might be 8.5GB/tile. The entire transect from the Kenai Peninsula to Denali was about 226 tiles, so 226 tiles * 8.5GB/tile * 1TB/1000GB = 1.9TB total. We won't be using all the images initially, but transects or mapped areas of this data volume would not be unusual.
This is the primary copy and currently stored on physical hard drives.

Intended Science Use Case
This data supports work I will be conducting on the MAAP to improve dead tree detection in Alaska to quantify overestimation of existing biomass maps of the area. This data is needed for both training of a segmentation model and implementation of the model itself across the entire region.

GeoTIFF
