Hacktoberfest 2026 runs through October, and this year's theme — open-weight models and open-source AI — is squarely ForgeLM's domain. The repository now carries the
hacktoberfesttopic and ahacktoberfestlabel. One thing worth saying up front: as of this year, pull requests no longer count toward Hacktoberfest rewards. The label here is a discovery signal, not a reward track, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise.
What is genuinely useful to do here in October:
first-timers-only— a few documentation issues reserved for a first pull request.good first issues — this query.python3 tools/check_readme_links.py --strict,python3 tools/check_source_path_refs.py --strict), and a broken link or a stale example is a real, mergeable contribution. If this is your first pull request anywhere: your first workflow run may wait for a maintainer's approval before it starts. That is routine GitHub behaviour for a first-time contributor, not a problem with your change, and it will be approved.
