Deprecation Warnings about Various Google APIs

Hey there,

This morning I noticed some warnings that started showing up in my Chrome console. Just wanted to make sure you guys were aware of this:

As of March 1st, 2025, google.maps.places.AutocompleteService is not available to new customers. Please use google.maps.places.AutocompleteSuggestion instead. At this time, google.maps.places.AutocompleteService is not scheduled to be discontinued, but google.maps.places.AutocompleteSuggestion is recommended over google.maps.places.AutocompleteService. While google.maps.places.AutocompleteService will continue to receive bug fixes for any major regressions, existing bugs in google.maps.places.AutocompleteService will not be addressed. At least 12 months notice will be given before support is discontinued. Please see https://developers.google.com/maps/legacy for additional details and https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/places-migration-overview for the migration guide.

Same here, thankfully there is a 12 month warning before Google fully sunsets this.

Hi all,

Was in the process of updating this repo to start using the new API when I saw that Google started recommending using their Extended Component Library in order to use the autocomplete component. It looks like it has not picked up a ton of traction yet, but they do have this nice export page where it will generate a basic React, Angular, or VanillaJS example and you can take it and change it for your use case.

The initial reference I found for this repo was here.

did they sunset it already? it wont load the autocomplete at all anymore.

and i see this error message from console:
